Fractional AI Officer · AI Governance Retainer

Ongoing AI oversight from $2,500/month.

A fractional AI officer gives you a named, credentialed person who keeps your AI use safe, documented and current, every month, without the cost of a full-time executive hire.

In plain language

Someone whose job is to keep AI under control.

New AI tools, new AI features in software you already pay for, new vendor terms and new rules arrive every month. Most organizations do not have anyone whose job it is to keep up. A fractional AI officer is that person, part-time.

Each month we review what changed, approve or flag new tools, keep your inventory and policy current, and give leadership a clear picture. When a staff member asks “can I use this?” or something goes wrong, there is a named person to call. The work follows the PrimeTech AI Trust Framework and is aligned to NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001 and HIPAA where applicable.

Who it is for

  • Healthcare organizations, home care and home health agencies and clinics using AI around patient information
  • Small and mid-sized businesses where staff already use ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini or AI note-takers
  • Leadership teams and boards asked by insurers, auditors, customers or buyers how AI is governed
  • Organizations that finished an AI Risk Assessment and want help carrying out the plan
  • Anyone who needs a chief AI officer’s judgment but not a full-time salary
What is included in every tier

  • New tool and vendor reviews: data use, retention, training on your data, BAA where needed
  • Quarterly AI governance review with a written summary and updated action plan
  • A person to call for “can we use this?” questions

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is a fractional AI officer?

A part-time, outside expert who does the work of an AI governance lead for your organization. You get the judgment and accountability of a chief AI or AI governance officer for a monthly fee, without hiring a full-time executive.

How is this different from the AI Risk Assessment?

The AI Risk Assessment is a one-time, fixed-price review ($5,000) that tells you where you stand. The fractional retainer is ongoing: it keeps your inventory, policy and vendor reviews current as tools change, and gives you someone to call. Many clients start with the assessment and move to a retainer.

Do we need an assessment first?

It is the cleanest start, but not required. If you do not have a recent assessment, the first month of a retainer focuses on building the AI inventory and a baseline action plan.

Is there a minimum term?

Yes, three months. That is enough time to set up the program and complete a first quarterly review. After that the retainer continues month to month, and you can change tiers with 30 days’ notice.

What happens if we use more hours than our tier includes?

We tell you before it happens. You can move up a tier or approve additional hours at an agreed rate. Unused hours do not roll over.

Do you work with our existing IT company and lawyers?

Yes. We coordinate with your IT provider on technical controls and with your counsel on regulatory questions. We do not provide legal advice.

Do you work with banks, credit unions and CISOs?

Yes. For community banks and credit unions the retainer covers AI vendor due diligence, board reporting and examiner preparation. For CISOs and CIOs it adds an AI governance lead who plugs into your existing security and risk program. See AI governance for banks and credit unions.

Do you only work in Las Vegas?

We are based in Henderson and serve Las Vegas, Henderson and the rest of Nevada in person, and clients nationwide remotely. Most retainer work is done remotely with on-site visits as needed.
